2 cents opinion:
Connection and speed of FarEasTone were good in Taipei city and all. And it is the cheapest option among the other telecommunication service there, for its 7 days plan.
However, when we went to Taichung I couldn’t connect to the internet, as the place we stayed was covered by Chunghwa mobile. In the end, I have to use my travel partner mobile as a hotspot or to walk out of the lodge to use the internet, which was too ridiculous.

2 cents opinion:
The queue at the airport can be quite long. There are a total of 3 counter available in Terminal 1 and 2 counter in Terminal 2, try to get to the one that has a shorter line.
If you are to planning to go out of the city area Chunghwa mobile is a good choice, as it is widely used in Taiwan.

2 cents opinion:
The connection is the second best in Taiwan, and it doesn’t really matter if you get this or Chunghwa as their price rate are the same. See which queue is shorter and get your sim card.
T-Star
A new additional telecommunication service provider, T- STAR. However, even though the data plan list and price are quite tempting it was quite difficult to find it at the airport. Because of its location and operating hours, it was not convenient at all.
Update:
The counter that you can get the T- Star prepaid sim card is now easier to find it is at Level one upon arrival. It is at a different area from the rest of the telecommunication service counter. Once exit from the arrival hall turn to your right where you will see the bus to city sign.
To note:
At terminal 2, this is not the direct T- star counter but the 3rd party seller, under easiwifi.

Suggestion:
It doesn’t really matter which service provider you choose if you were in Taipei, queue at the shortest line will do. However, if you are planning to go out of Taipei or other urban cities I would suggest you get the Chunghwa prepaid sim card as it is more well covered in Taiwan.
Tips:
Get your prepaid sim card at the airport as it is cheaper and have more plan than the stores outside. If your flight reached later than the operating hours, you will have to get it at the store in the city area, otherwise, visit the convenience store located in the airport.
Here are the Store locations:
